Meet some of the speakers that will be a part of the "Parenting Teenagers" course!


    Dr. VanValin has been interested in the integration of Christian faith and the practice of psychology since 1975. In addition to counseling individuals, couples, and families, Dr. Van Valin writes and speaks on such topics such as marriage, parenting, childhood disorders, and psychological assessment.

    He has been featured on the 700 Club and presents at regional and national conferences.

    He and his wife, Becky, have developed Back to the Garden, a marital workshop presented in the United States and abroad. Dr. Van Valin earned the Ph.D. from University of Missouri in Columbia in 1982. 


    Diane Malaspina, Ph.D. offers in home consultations and classes for parents that emphasize understanding children’s emotional, cognitive, and psychological development in relation to how and why children behave the ways they do. Diane is an Educational Psychologist with over 17 years of experience working in schools and with families. Her area of expertise is social competence and effective strategies for coping with stress and transitions. She has worked in both the clinical and education sectors, and has published work in national journals and presented at international conferences. Diane has taught undergraduate and graduate courses and has a consulting business where she offers in home sessions and workshops to parents and school personnel. She also provides professional development and consultation services at local schools.
